Bus driver detained from Barisal

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained the driver of a bus of ‘Raida Paribahan’ that rammed a motorcycle in front of the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital killing an engineer of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) on Friday.

Deceased Maidul Islam Siddiqui was a Senior Deputy Assistant Engineer of CAAB. Following the accident, the driver went into hiding in Barisal.

RAB-8 Commanding Officer Lt Col Kazi Zubaer Alam Shovon said that a joint team of RAB-8 and RAB-1 arrested Mahmud Hasan from Barisal and brought him to Dhaka.

Airport Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Sumon Chandra Das said a bus of Raida Paribahan ploughed through the security wall of the third terminal of Dhaka airport after losing control over its steering at around 10am on Friday.

At that time, engineer Maidul was aboard a motorcycle on the road. He was seriously injured when his motorcycle was rammed by the minibus.

Later, he was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
